15 Quotes About Generosity

January 16, 2017 By Lynn Bryson 3 Comments

Generosity is two things. It’s giving without expecting anything in return and it’s believing in abundance instead of scarcity (there’s enough for everyone).

When it comes to being generous (whether in business, in love, etc.) give with an open heart. Give to yourself. Give to others. Give because it fills your soul.

“Give what you have. To someone, it may be better than you dare to think.” Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

“If we are going to be kind, let it be out of simple generosity, not because we fear guilt or retribution.” J.M. Coetzee

“People who love themselves come across as very loving, generous and kind; they express their self-confidence through humility, forgiveness and inclusiveness.” Sanaya Roman

“If truth doesn’t set you free, generosity of spirit will.” Katerina Stoykova Klemer

“The most truly generous persons are those who give silently without hope of praise or reward.” Carol Ryrie Brink

“Generosity is not giving me that which I need that you do, but it is giving me that which you need more that I do.” Kahlil Gibran, Sand and Foam

“Be practical as well as generous in your ideals. Keep your eyes on the stars, but remember to keep your feet on the ground.” Theodore Roosevelt

“Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it.” Holy Bible: King James Version

“Silence the angry man with love. Silence the ill-natured man with kindness. Silence the miser with generosity. Silence the liar with truth.” Gautama Buddha

“But I give best when I give from that deeper place; when I give simply, freely and generously, and sometimes for no particular reason. I give best when I give from my heart.” Steve Goodier

“Every sunrise is an invitation for us to arise and brighten someone’s day.” Richelle E. Goodrich

“I come in a world of iron…to make a world of gold” Dale Wasserman

“Real generosity is anonymous to the extent that a man should be prepared even to be considered ungenerous rather than explain it to others.” Idries Shah

“Generosity is the most natural outward expression of an inner attitude of compassion and loving-kindness.” Dalai Lama XIV

“You make all kinds of mistakes, but as long as you are generous and true and also fierce, you cannot hurt the world or even seriously distress her.” Winston S. Churchill
