Self-esteem is a reflection of who you believe you are. It’s how you perceive yourself.
How you feel about yourself directly affects your thoughts, moods and relationships.
Self-esteem isn’t just connected to body image; it’s also connected to how intelligent you think you are, how likable you think you are, how funny you think you are, etc.
What do you see when you look in the mirror? Do you see your qualities or do you see flaws?
How you view yourself is in turn how others view you. If you’re insecure people pick up on that and assume there must be some valid reason why. If you’re uncomfortable people view you as shy. Sadly, insecurities can make other people believe that you don’t like spending time with them or that they are unimportant to you.
A world of possibilities come crashing to a halt the moment you let your insecurities get the best of you.
What do secure people do differently?
They live an authentic life.
They psych themselves out.
They embrace their uniqueness.
They give themselves plenty of alone time to recover from life.
They don’t take things personally.
They stay curious.
Insecure people do the exact opposite of these. They life a fearful and inauthentic life. They let their emotions build up. They’re afraid of being who they really are. They don’t spend time doing things just for themselves. They’re too afraid to be curious and they take everything personally.
Your belief in who you are is where your self-esteem lies. If you believe you’re good and strong and beautiful, then you are. If you believe that you’re ugly, worthless and unimportant then your self-esteem confirms this.
If there’s one single step that will push you towards being a self-confident person it’s authenticity. Learning to be yourself is the best medicine for a negative self-image.

I could start by stopping the negative thoughts. I could start by pumping myself up instead of tearing myself down.
Learning to be myself <3
I love the part about staying curious. That’s so important to me! When you lose your curiosity you lose your vigor for life.
Such an eye-opening post!
How you see yourself IS how others see you!! Such truth!!!
Agreed! Self-esteem isn’t just connected to body image. It’s attached to all our beliefs about ourselves.
Yep… my world comes to a stop every time I let my insecurities get the best of me…
I NEED MORE ALONE TIME!!!
Me too! My “me time” is driving to work and back. π That doesn’t really count in my book! π

3. Learn more about myself.
4. Go with my gut.
5. Don’t let fear stop me.
