Embracing pain is difficult. What do you do when everything seems to fall apart?
Many of us have gone through trauma, and as we look back, we realize that if we hadn’t, we may never have been the people we are today.
Here are four lessons you can learn about conquering pain and finding joy.
- Surrender and let go of control.
We think we should have it all together, but the honest truth is, no one has it all together.
- Good can come out of tragedy.
If we truly believe that we serve a good God, then we also must believe that he has our best interest in mind and that good can come out of tragedy.
- Don’t ask “why?” Ask “what?”
“Why did this happen to me?” When we ask this question we take on a victim mentality. When we are in pain, we should look to God, not asking, “Why?” but “What are you doing, Father?”
- God wants to free us from pain.
The only way we can deal with pain in a healthy manner is to do it with him, the one who underwent more grief than we could ever understand. When we embrace God’s love, allowing him to love us fully, all other forms of love pale in comparison.
