Facebook can be the bearer of fantastic news. It can be a hub of excitement for life moments such as engagements, weddings and baby news. A Facebook pregnancy announcement is especially thrilling and the excitement of two little ones is all the more reason to celebrate.
I wouldn’t have known so quickly about my 2nd cousin’s wife’s pregnancy if it weren’t for Facebook. It was Christmas last year that the parents revealed to their family the sex of their child, but to the room’s surprise, instead of one pink or one blue balloon rising out of the carefully wrapped box, both colored balloons surprised the guests. The thrilling news of twins left the family shouting, and crying, and hugging.
The news was absolutely incredible, but they were not out of the woods yet. Four more weeks and the greatest chances of miscarriage would be over. They hadn’t gotten this far with their other pregnancies before and so they felt they were in the home stretch. Only four more weeks and they would be past the normal miscarriage stage.
But as many of us know all too well, pregnancies are not predictable. At twenty weeks, they felt they were home free, but at twenty two weeks something happened.
At week twenty-two mom went into labor and the babies could not survive. It was heartbreaking news no matter how we all heard- a phone call, Facebook, or a text. Sadness was being passed through the family of the horrible news that Ruby and Ridge had been born, but too early and they could not stay with us. Their heavenly father thought it best to have them with Him.
These heartbreaking life events are no more than just that- heartbreaking. Nothing can fix the hurt, time passes and can heal the wounds, but the hurt lingers.
