Life is both precious and demanding. If you want the energy to be present for everything your day throws at you then you need to give your mornings a little extra attention.
The way you start your day has the power to either boost your productivity or hinder it so choose your morning habits and rituals carefully. Start by adding these 5 new practices.
Don’t hit the snooze button! First of all, get rid of that screeching alarm and opt for gentle music. Secondly, give yourself a few extra minutes to wake up and get your day going, but whatever you do… don’t hit the snooze. It will throw your inner clock off and cause you to feel groggy.
Write in your gratitude journal. Oprah (along with other success giants) has a daily practice of writing in her gratitude journal. Before you even get out of bed, write down five things you’re grateful for. This practice alone will change your life.
Set your intentions. We’ve talked before about the importance of intentions. Having clear intentions sets you apart from the pack and gives you an edge. When you know what you specifically want to accomplish in a day you can stay focused.
Keep your devices off. Out of habit the first thing we do in the morning is reach for our phones. Instead of immersing yourself in social media, let your mornings be about focusing your energy on the day ahead.
Take time to meditate. In a previous post I talked to you about the importance of adding meditation to your morning routine. Meditation is the best investment you can make in yourself. It gives you a sense of peace that you can carry with you throughout the day.
Chances are, your mornings leave you feeling groggy and exhausted. Though these 5 tips might seem too minute to make a difference, they actually have the power to make ALL the difference.
