Even though it seems daunting, working through self-doubt is a pretty simple process. It’s a matter of refocusing your thoughts.
Doubt occurs when we focus on our insecurities. When we doubt ourselves we take on the role of the victim and keep ourselves from reaching new heights.
What is the root of my doubt? What is the story I’m telling myself? Where does your doubt stem from? Is there a familiar story that you tell yourself.
“I’m not someone who deserves love because my father left when I was young, my best friend betrayed me and by husband cheated on me. If someone loves me they’ll eventually disappoint me.”
Relationship struggles can weigh heavy on our hearts, even years later, but this doubt will put a wall between you and your happiness. Find the root of your doubt so that you can recognize it for what it is.
Who told you to doubt yourself? Even the slightest of comments can engrave themselves in our minds. Maybe when you were a young child someone told you that you weren’t good enough. Maybe it was a teacher, friend, loved one or stranger. Whoever it was who planted that seed has likely made a bigger impact on you than they’ll ever know. Release yourself from their words.
How does this doubt serve you? Hint, hint… it doesn’t. Doubt doesn’t serve anyone. It has no value. It’s a thorn in your side and you’re holding onto it for all the wrong reasons. Let go of that part of yourself that wants to hold onto self-doubt.
What would you like to replace your doubt with? Instead out doubt, what would you like to feel when you’re working towards a goal? Confidence maybe?
Replace doubt with confidence and you’ll have a whole new outlook on life.
It’s up to you whether you choose doubt or confidence. It’s as simple as choosing the thoughts you allow in your head.
The next time you feel doubtful ask yourself, “What is this really about?”

The husband example really hits home. :/ I feel doubtful quite a lot thanks to a bad past relationship.
Amen!
“Who told you to doubt yourself?” Great question! High school peers are/were big stumbling blocks for a lot of people. I’m one of those people.
So true, doubt doesn’t serve us one bit!
