What we put out into the world comes back to us. How would your day, your week, your month improve if you received more kindness? How would your mood change if people were nice to you, just because? Would the days be sweeter? The weeks be smoother?
Put kindness out there and you may find that there’s more kindness awaiting you than you thought.
15 Small Acts of Kindness
- Hold the door for someone.
- Let someone go in front of you in the grocery line.
- Say thank you to someone who made your life a bit better today and don’t just say “thank you.” Say the words, “Thank you for making my life a little bit ______ (better, easier, less stressful) today.”
- Send a thinking-of-you text.
- Make eye contact, smile and wave.
- Leave sincere comments on your friends’ social media posts.
- Bring in your neighbor’s trash cans or newspaper.
- Be a courteous driver, giving other cars the right of way.
- Leave a generous tip.
- Ask your friend an engaging question about herself.
- Cook a casserole for someone who has lost a loved one or who is sick.
- Donate to your local shelter.
- Do something for your loved one that you know they don’t like to do (the dishes, washing the car, laundry).
- Write a positive review for a book, product, or restaurant you enjoyed.
- Use people’s names when you talk to them.
Whatever you do today, do it with kindness. There’s a shortage of generosity these days and we could all use a little more of it.
