Everyone seems to have the answer to what success is and what it looks like. Lots of people assume that success is living on a yacht as it travels the Mediterranean.
First of all, success doesn’t have a clear-cut definition. It means something different to everyone. It’s as individual as our fingerprints.
Second of all, people are overlooking what success should FEEL like.
What do you not like about your life right now?
Do you not like feeling tired all the time?
Do you not like being stressed?
Do you not like feeling out of control of your schedule?
Do you not like missing your kid’s games?
Do you not like feeling unfulfilled?
How DO you want to feel?
Do you want to feel rested?
Do you want to feel in charge of your work hours?
Do you want to have extra time with your family?
Do you want to feel financially secure?
Do you want to enjoy downtime without stress?
Those are pretty straightforward questions. No one wants to miss their kid’s activities and everyone wants to be financially secure.
What we can likely all agree on is that success feels secure, fulfilling, passion driven, joyful and empowering.
What could be up for debate is this…
Success is when you love what you do so much that’d you’d do it for free. Or maybe it isn’t. Success is having control of your schedule. Or maybe it isn’t. Success is retiring early. Or maybe not.
It’s what you want it to be. Everyone has the ability to be successful in their own right because they have the freedom to say what it is to them.
Success should make you feel alive, whatever that means to you.
Love this post!!! People have put the word “success” in a box. It’s like you can’t be a successful person unless you have A, B and C. Success might be raising healthy, loving children, or living a life working for a company that gives you job security. You don’t have to be a billionaire to be “successful”.
I was “successful” in the corporate world and was miserable. Now I’m a successful small business owner and am happier than ever.

I’ve reached for success and felt dead inside. Then I redefined it for myself and “success” made me feel alive.
Great blog. I wish everyone could see success this way. We’ve gotten too judgmental of what success is. It’s so different for all of us and to say someone isn’t successful when in fact they’re completely happy with their lives is sad. I’m happy and just because my success doesn’t fit into a box doesn’t mean I’m any less accomplished. Sharing this!
This was just the post I needed today. I’m having a hard time making decisions about my life based on the idea of what success is. I can’t ever decide what the right step to take is because I’ve got this neon sign flashing in my head. SUCCESS. SUCCESS. SUCCESS. It’s distracting me from making decisions that are really, truly right for me.
Thank you for your weekly words of encouragement <3 They are always so uplifting and inspiring!
