One thing I always notice after the New Year is that many people end up feeling paralyzed by the overwhelming resolutions they’ve set. I believe this is due to limiting mindsets.
When we truly believe in ourselves we feel invincible and our goals feel possible. When we doubt ourselves and believe limiting mindsets, we feel paralyzed.
Here are three things that contribute to limiting mindsets and how you can overcome them.
- Fear. When you operate from a mindset of fear, you are constricted. Imagine holding your breath… indefinitely. This is the energy of fear. Fear is the umbrella emotion that everything that isn’t love is derived from: anger, greed, jealousy, etc.
Overcome Fear: The only way to stop fear in its tracks is to infuse the situation with love. All it takes is a shift in mindset. Love yourself. Love your situation. Love your journey.
- Comparison. Comparing yourself to others achieves nothing positive. You may think it’s productive to compare yourself to others in order to challenge yourself to reach goals they’ve reached. This instead leads to envy.
Overcome Comparison: To shift from comparing yourself with others, try a social media fast for a few days. Another tip to shift the habit of comparison is to practice compassion, mostly with yourself, but also with others. Be okay with how you are and where you are. This is your journey. Nobody else’s.
- Scarcity. This mindset is when you fear that you will never have enough, that you will always be struggling, or that other people will always have more than you do. The ugly truth is, you create your mindset, and thus, have control over how you create your reality. There’s also a lot of beauty to that truth too. You have the power! Take responsibility for your mindset!
Overcome Scarcity Mindset: The key to addressing the scarcity mindset is to realize that there is enough for everybody! That everyone, including you, deserves to make money (and plenty of it) doing exactly what you love.
If you’re not happy with the results of your thoughts, and how your life is going, always know that you have the mental power to create a better reality.
This is something that I often work on with my clients. Not only have I seen this work in my own life, but also in the lives of many others.
