Most of us would say our work, our children, family life, our kid’s schedules, the time crunch we are always in, church activities, community activities, etc.
Those are good answers and those things do create a lot of stress for us all. Just trying to keep up is sometimes all we can do.
But pushing through life is never going to be a good thing and I am preaching to the choir here. I push way too often.
The thing that sucks the life right out of us are those things that are not in alignment with our true purpose in life.
I know that many of you are tired of hearing about our true purpose and finding our true purpose, but each of us has a specific reason for being alive and it’s important to believe that! Because we are alive, we have a purpose, better put… a true purpose.
When we run down these rabbit trails, that do not make us happy we are creating stress and we are allowing the life to be sucked right out of us. While family life isn’t always a walk in the park (and can be stressful) it isn’t out of line with our true purpose, because family is our most prized possession and doing for them matters. But rabbit trails… now those drag us down.
I think of creatives and how they isolate themselves. We think of them as weird, introverted, melancholy or way out there. Honestly, creatives have the right idea. They sometimes appear to float through their day, but I believe they are more in tune with life than those of us that crazily just try to keep up.
We all need to be very clear on our morals, goals and our purpose. Knowing who we are will lead us to who we should be.
Don’t use life around you to zone out. Use it to tune in. Be in the moment when you are watching your kids play or having dinner with friends. Laugh with everyone as much as you laugh at YouTube videos.
Think about where you are and what you are doing. You’ll be surprised where your moments can lead you.
My inner voice has changed drastically in the past two years. I’m not great at being in the moment, but I’m better and I don’t push through life as much as I used to.
#smallsteps each day will lead you to a better, more focused purposeful life. Walk away from the push and lean in to the present.
